Actress Goldie Hawn said, “You often meet your fate on the road you take to avoid it.” In college the plan for my life didn’t include teaching as a career. However, I innately knew the only career that would allow me to share my passion for learning, my love for writing, my enthusiasm and my dedication for helping young minds to become successful contributing adults was to become a teacher. After several wrong turns I stumbled into and graciously accepted the career path to become a teacher. In my nineteenth year of teaching, I am still confidant that I am in the correctly chosen profession. I graduated with a B.A. in Language Arts from the University of Alabama, earned a B.S. in Language Arts Secondary Education from Athens State University, and M.A. in Secondary Education English from University of North Alabama.
I have been married for 24 years to my college sweetheart and am a mother of a 11-year-old son, Brayden. Even though I am a transplant to this area from Tuscaloosa, AL I am thrilled to call Huntsville my home and honored to be a member of the faculty of Columbia High School.
