My name is Matthew Puckett. I am the 7th grade English teacher at Chapman Middle. I am married to my wife, Arry, and we have a daughter, Ryne. We moved from our hometown of Hamilton (me) and Hackleburg (Arry) prior to the 2022-23 school year to Madison. . Before becoming a teacher, I spent six years as the managing editor of the newspaper in Marion County. I am an avid Chicago Cubs fan and root for pretty much any team Chicago—except for the White Sox. The year 2016 holds a near-and-dear place in my heart as my wife and I were married in August and then the Cubs won the team’s first World Series in 108 years a few months later. Our family has a Blue Heeler named Daisy, and my daughter has a cat named Ariel.
