Mrs. Givan is a Huntsville native and a graduate of Grissom High School, class of '87. While her passion was to always be a teacher, she was encouraged to pursue an engineering degree, since math was her favorite subject. However, after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Auburn University in Industrial Engineering, she knew she did not want to work in the field. Instead, She married her husband and worked for years in a family owned business, while raising her daughter. When her son was born with special needs that required much more of her time and attention, she took several years off to take care of him. When he began school, she began to teach music and preschoolers part time at Willowbrook Weekday Education. She loved teaching and always wanted to go back to school for her secondary certification in Math and fulfill her dream of finally becoming a teacher. In 2020, the opportunity happened, and she was delighted to join the faculty at Grissom. When she is not teaching, Mrs. Givan loves to spend time with her family and friends, playing with her Golden Retriever, or creating in her craft room.
