I knew I wanted to become a teacher when, at the age of eight, I taught my three year old brother to spell elephant. Then I took a creative writing class my senior year of high school and learned from a teacher who convinced me that my words were important. I wanted to be a writer. I studied journalism at UNA, wrote for local publications, and started a family, which would grow to include four wonderful kiddos. Eventually the call to teach became too strong to ignore, so I returned to UNA to complete my master's degree. Since then, I've taught reading intervention, I.B. language, and English at the middle school and high school levels. I've also taught GED classes for Calhoun. I love reading the Harry Potter books and John Green novels, watching old Psych and Supernatural episodes, playing the original NES with my sons, and painting seascapes and sailboats with my daughters. I also truly love teaching, and I'm thankful for the opportunity I get each day to learn from my students.
