Hi! My name is Melissa Smith. I spent my childhood and most of my adulthood in Tennessee, however I have lived in Huntsville for the past two years. Most of my spare time is spent with family and friends. I like to also to skydive, walk, and swim. I love the outdoors. I also love working with kids. At the end of the day, I have learned as much from them as they have learned from me! My favorite quote: "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." -Nelson Mandela.

For the past eighteen years, I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with students in Huntsville City Schools on both elementary and middle school levels. Previously I have taught first, third and fourth grades. I have also served as a Turnaround Specialist in a middle school and as a Curriculum Specialist in middle and elementary schools. This is my fourth year to teach first grade at MLK and I love it!
