Experience

I bring 24 years of educational experience to this role, having served as a principal at Riverton Elementary School, which was named a Model PLC at Work school in 2022, and as principal at Elkmont Elementary School. My background includes roles as a preK–12 assistant principal, instructional coach, and elementary teacher. Throughout my career, I have been deeply committed to fostering an environment where all students can thrive academically and socially. In 2008, I was honored with the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the highest recognition for K–12 STEM education in the United States. Additionally, I am a Certified Instructional Leader (CIL) through the Council of Leaders for Alabama Schools (CLAS), and a Certified PreK–3 Leader through the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). I plan to use my experience and expertise to ensure every student at GSES has a high-quality educational experience.
