We are excited to begin a new FamiLEE school year. Our theme this year is Be"LEE"ve. We believe we can accomplish anything together. We are ecstatic about the new and returning LHS teachers, students, and parents. Our goal is to help our students and families feel safe and continue to improve academic achievement as our scholars transition through their high school career.
First, I want to give you some background history about myself. I have been working in education and with the Huntsville City School System for 20 years. It is a true honor to serve in the system that educated me. I am elated to return to Lee which is where I graduated participating in the vocal and theater magnet. During my time with HCS, I have worked as a teacher, reading and math coach, Summer Teacher Academy Coach, magnet coordinator and assistant principal. Most of my career has been centered around magnet schools. The past three years, I have been the principal of the Academy for Academics and Arts Middle School. Before this assignment, I was the Freshman Academy Administrator and Assistant Principal at Lee High School. I am excited to have the opportunity to return to the FamiLEE to help your child in the final stages of receiving his/ her high school diploma. Along with the faculty and staff, I will work hard to continue the successful traditions established at Lee.
My goal is to be an advocate for our overall FamiLEE to help us reach our full potential. I want you to know that my focus this year will be working hard to create a safe learning environment which promotes collaboration and unity while ensuring our students are successful academically and have exposure to all the various art forms and athletic opportunities. We will continue to enrich and demonstrate that Great Things Are Happening at Lee! We will accomplish this goal by continuing to build strong parent-teacher and teacher-student relationships, communicating our expectations and procedures, making lessons rigorous and relevant to our students, and strengthening our community and parent involvement. My goals are based on the vision for the Huntsville City Schools which is the following: Promoting Student Success, Supporting Faculty and Staff, Creating a New Strategic Plan, Prioritizing Culture, Climate and Safety, and Strong Communication and Community Engagement.
We will continue to increase our students’ academic achievement, present arts pieces and productions, and develop skillful athletes while taking care of students! I will reach out soon with orientation and other important dates. We are an incredible school and I look forward to working with each of you to continue our students’ success. It is wonderful to be back home with my famiLEE.
If you have suggestions, questions, celebrations, or concerns, my door is always open. Email is the best way to reach me because I check it frequently during the day. My email is Kitrise.Torain@hsv-k12.org. The school’s number is 256-428-8150. I will get back in contact with you as soon as possible.
Great things are happening at LEE!!!
