Ms. Amber Thompson is honored to be the principal of Mountain Gap Elementary School! She is very excited to be a part of such a great school and community! Before coming to Mountain Gap Elementary, Mrs. Thompson was principal of Highlands Elementary and Westlawn Middle School. She taught various history courses for a number of years at Huntsville High School as well. In her free time, she likes to read, travel, and spend time with her family.

Experience

Mrs. Thompson started her teaching career with Huntsville City Schools in 2007 as a high school history teacher. After a few years in the classroom, she entered the TOSA program where she served in administration at Huntsville High School and Highlands Elementary. She was principal of Westlawn Middle School in its final year. She served as principal of Highlands Elementary for two years. She is certified in history (6-12), English as a Second Language (P-12), and instructional leadership.
