Behavioral Learning

Our Behavioral Learning Guides (BLG) promote a safe learning environment by identifying student misbehavior, the consequences for inappropriate conduct, and the progressive disciplinary steps assigned to each behavior. The BLG is the instruction manual for the Elementary and Secondary Matrices, which are available below.

The Behavioral Learning Guide provides HCS students with clearly defined expected behaviors and consequences for inappropriate student conduct. It also gives teachers and principals a framework of progressive supports for correcting inappropriate student behavior while maintaining a strong learning environment.

Huntsville City Schools has revised its Behavioral Learning Guide (“BLG”) based on feedback from teachers, principals, students, their families, and the community.  As of the 2022-23 school year, there is now only one document which includes the BLG as well as both the Elementary and Secondary Matrices.
