To ensure a safe and efficient return following the extreme winter weather, Huntsville City Schools will not be in session on Monday, Jan. 22 for students and teachers.
As a precautionary measure, both 11 and 12 month employees will report to campuses with a delayed start on Monday, Jan 22 at 11 a.m. Employees will be working to ensure campuses are safe and optimal for teaching and learning before students return.
While HCS wants to resume normal operations as quickly as possible, this adjusted schedule will help promote safe conditions on school campuses, roadways, and sidewalks for students, families, employees, and school buses. Additionally, this adjusted schedule will also help ensure campuses are prepared by deploying salt trucks, checking equipment, inspecting buses, and ensuring cafeterias are prepared to serve meals.
HCS crews have been working throughout the weekend to promote a safe return to school, and they will continue to work to address any issues that may have occurred due to the extreme winter weather.
