Congratulations to this year's ASFL Elementary Support Staff of the Year, Nurse Stephanie Barton! This is Nurse Stephanie's 2nd year at ASFL, where she serves both the elementary and middle school. Always smiling, she treats every student in our building with kindness and compassion, no matter how small his/her ailment is.

This is her 3rd year working in schools, but her 24th year as a nurse, most of which have been in pediatric critical care both here and internationally. She says "I have known since I was in nursing school that eventually I would like to be a school nurse. I was a frequent flyer in my Elementary Nurse's office and my school nurse was so compassionate to me before sending me back to class. She inspired me to become a nurse. After 3 long years of COVID in the ER I finally made the move to school nursing and it has been the best decision I have made in my career. I love using my experience to help kids when they are sick, injured, or have chronic medical needs. My favorite part of my job is the unique community of students , staff, and families that trust me to provide quality care and ensure a healthy and safe environment at ASFL. After all the years of being a hospital nurse I could have never imagined the fulfillment that came with working with healthy kids in a school setting."

We appreciate Nurse Stephanie's hard work and dedication to our school community and are so happy you are part of our ASFL family!
