All of February, ASFL has celebrated Black History Month. Our halls have been filled with amazing doors and bulletin boards highlighting figures in arts, entertainments, sports, writing, politics, and education. Teachers competed in a decorating contest, with students joining in to help! Classes were invited to take an in-school field trip to visit each display.
We also held our annual Black History Program. Through a skit called “It Was All A Dream,” we were introduction of several figures in Black History as a young man tried to decide who to write his black history report on. The skit included a dance by our 2nd grade students performed a dance they learned in music class, and our choir performed a song and an interpretive dance. Thank you to the organizers of the program and all of the month's celebration, and a job well done to all of our students involved!
