Dear Blossomwood Families,

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

We have an exciting and fun week planned for this week.

  • The students are looking forward to a wonderful time shopping at our annual PTA sponsored Santa Shop. Thank you to everyone in advance that has signed up to volunteer at the Santa Shop!
  • Each day we have a fun dress-up day for the students!
  • Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm, we have our annual K-2 Holiday Sing-a-Long and PTA Meeting.
  • Thursday morning at 9:00 am, our sixth-grade choir and band will perform a few songs for parents to enjoy.
  • The Blossomwood Jingle Bell Run is this week!
  • Friday is a ½ day for students as well as the day for holiday parties!

Jingle Bell Run

More than 20 years ago, a tradition was started with the very first Jingle Bell Run at Blossomwood Elementary by Dr. Cathy Vasile! Since then, students have been encouraged to read, read, and read some more during the month of December.

For example, each time a student finishes reading a book in December and makes an 80% or higher on the Accelerated Reader test for that book, he/she receives a ticket. Then, on December 14 & 15 we will be drawing tickets to award more than 100 prizes! The prizes will include gift cards, toys, earbuds, books, puzzles, and more!

Positive Behavior System (PBIS) & Blossomwood Houses

As your student has probably shared with you, each student and teacher is part of one of the four "Houses" at Blossomwood, and each week we update our earned point totals for good choices by students. We announce the updated standings each Monday on BNN, spin the wheel for the weekly reward/privilege each Tuesday, and the winning "House" receives the reward/privilege on Wednesdays. The rewards/privileges range from a sweet treat, extra recess, wear a hat day, etc. Ask your student more about our house competition!

House Point Totals as of December 4, 2023

Congratulations to all of our students for making good choices and helping to build the house point totals!

  • Sapphire House - 13, 276 points

Winter Holiday Learning Challenge 2023

Each year we encourage our students to continue learning during the extended breaks such as Winter Break. This Wednesday your child will bring home a sheet in his/her Blossomwood folder with the directions for participating in the voluntary Winter Break Learning Challenge which includes a reading, math, and family event challenge.

More specifically, one ticket can be earned for completing the reading challenge, one ticket can be earned for completing the math challenge, and/or one ticket can be earned for completing the family challenge. To be clear, a student can do one, two, or all three challenges. We will be giving away several donated prizes including gift cards for ice cream, wireless headphones, etc.

The record sheet (on the back) for the Challenge is due on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, to Dr. Scott.  An adult signature is required at the bottom of the completed sheet.
