What a great first week of school for 2024! We are looking forward to this week being a regular, five-day week filled with learning! Report cards will be sent home with students in Blossomwood folders on Wednesday.

We have some exciting news as we would like to welcome Ms. Deborah Schraeder as our new school counselor!

Holiday PTA Meeting

Our Holiday PTA Meeting with the K-2 Sing-A-Long was a great time for all last month! The music provided by our students was beautiful. Thank you to all of our families for coming out to support the children, and thank you to Ms. Stewart, our music teacher. Special thanks to our PTA Decoration Committee led by Mrs. Samples. Our students and families enjoyed holiday decorations from various winter holidays!

Winter Holiday Learning Challenge

Each year we encourage our students to continue learning during the extended breaks such as Winter Break. The Winter Break Learning Challenge included a reading, math, and family event challenge.

Congratulations to everyone who completed the Winter Break Learning Challenge! We had 54 students who chose to participate in the holiday learning challenge. Each student who completed the challenge during Winter Break received a coupon for a gift certificate for free food from Dodge's, a free skating pass, and $10 off of a birthday party at Roller Time Skate Center!

In addition, the students received tickets for a special drawing for completing the challenge of reading for 20 minutes for at least five days, practicing math for 20 minutes for at least five days, and/or writing about a family event from the break.

The prizes for the drawing included: a karaoke microphone, two science experiment kits (one for archaeology and one for growing gemstones and crystals), wireless headphones, a disco ball wireless speaker with LED lights, two large containers of Sour Punch Twists, a huge box of sidewalk chalk, a remote control car, and a remote control airplane!

We will have another holiday learning challenge for Spring Break. Our goal will remain the same with us encouraging students to develop the habit of learning and reading daily.

Students pose with the prizes they won for participating in the winter learning challenge.

Celebrating 2nd Nine Weeks Accelerated Reader Goals

Last Friday, the students who met their reading goals for Accelerated Reader for the second nine-week grading period enjoyed a party in the library! During the party, students enjoyed ice cream sundaes and the opportunity to play a variety of games.

Students enjoy playing games at the Accelerated Reader party.
