Dear Blossomwood Families,

I am confident you agree that we have a fantastic school and community. With that being said, when was the last time you bragged on your chlld, your child's teacher, our school, and/or our community?

What would happen if each of us posted something positive about our neighbors, our school, and community on social media?

As part of Team Blossomwood, we have a level of credibility that can significantly impact how others view our students, our teachers, our families, our school, and our community. We want new families to Huntsville to choose us.

Therefore, I challenge each of us to take five minutes this week to post or share something positive on social media or with a parent/community member; perhaps at work. Brag on our students, our teachers, and our families! As you will see in this week's principal's message, our children are doing many impressive things! Feel free to go back and review our previous Panthergrams and principal messages for a sampling of the many great things that our students have done this year!

Get Ready and Excited for ACAP Testing

Join us as we get ready and excited this week about the upcoming ACAP Testing that begins April 2! We have some fun dress-up days this week, and we have an ACAP Pep Rally planned for next Monday, April 1 to get ready about the upcoming opportunity to show how much we have learned and academically grown. Information regarding the dress up days can be found on the calendar.

Parents often ask, "How can I help my child to be prepared for the ACAP test that students take in the spring?" Please use this resource provided by the Alabama State Department of Education which should be helpful.

Congratulations on the Spring Break Learning Challenge

Congratulations to everyone that completed the Blossomwood Spring Break Learning Challenge! We had more than 50 students that chose to participate in the holiday learning challenge during Spring Break.

Each student that completed the challenge during Spring Break received a coupon for free items from Dodge's Store! Special thanks to Dodge's for donating the coupons.

In addition, the students received tickets for a special drawing of many prizes for completing the challenge of reading for 20 minutes for at least five days, practicing math for 20 minutes for at least five days, and/or writing about a family event from the break.

Students hold the prizes they won from the Spring Learning Challenge.

Accelerated Reader Party for the 3rd Nine Weeks

Congratulations to the students that met their Accelerated Reader Goal for the third nine-weeks! They had a great time playing games and other fun activities in the library last Friday during their grade level time. Keep reading each day for at least 15-20 minutes!

Pawsome Readers was a Success

We want to say congratulations again to our first graders! They have been participating in our Pawsome Readers program which is designed to encourage our students to read, read, read during a specific period of time; roughly 6 weeks. With each book completed either at home or school, the student received a piece of colored paper or "link" on which they could write the title of the book, etc. Then, they would fold and connect their links to form a chain that we placed in the hallway.

As you can see from the pictures below, they read a lot of books, and we had many special guest readers such as Sproket from the Rocket City Trash Pandas and Mr. Curt Kleary with his owls!

Special thanks to all of our parent volunteers that helped to hang the links in the hallway, and of course thank you to our PTA and teachers for helping organize and support such a wonderful program! We even had a parade through the school with other grade levels cheering on the first graders! Keep up the excellent work, first graders!
