Dear Blossomwood Families,
The students at Blossomwood continue to excel in so many areas thanks to our families, teachers, and our community partnerships! Last week was a wonderful example of these numerous opportunities:

Concert in the Classroom Visits Fourth Grade
Last Friday, the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation brought their "Concert in the Classroom" program to Blossomwood. This program was founded by a local musician named Microwave Dave, and this year they worked in our fourth grade classrooms. The students learned about the science behind music as well as how music relates to so many aspects of science. In addition, we hope that we helped our students to appreciate music a little bit more.
Great Musical Performance by Our SIxth Grade Band & Choir
Thank you to everyone that came out last Thursday evening to support our sixth graders. They did a wonderful job singing and playing their instruments! It is amazing how well they sing/play for being in their first year of choir and/or band. Special thanks to our choir director, Mrs. Kathryn Hoppe, and our band director, Mrs. Megan Black, for leading the groups of students.
Huntsville Junior High Band Visits Blossomwood
Mr. Torain, the band director at Huntsville Jr. High, brought their band to play for our sixth graders last Friday. They were fantastic, and of course several of their members once walked the halls of Blossomwood as a student. They even concluded the performance by allowing some of our current band students to play "Go Big Red!" with them.
Grade 3 Visits Maple Hill Cemetary
Our third graders went on a field trip to Maple Hill Cemetery and the Weeden House last week. The field trip is one of those led by the Earthscope Educational Staff who are a part of the Huntsville City Schools. They always do an excellent job making the trips engaging and interesting for students. For example, our students learned how to use a compass to navigate to certain locations in the cemetery. They also learned that there is a marker in the cemetery that denotes the "center" of Madison County and was used for surveying purposes. Furthermore, our students learned a great deal about the history of Huntsville, including that several former governors are buried at Maple Hill Cemetery.
K for a Day
We held our annual "K for A Day" event last Tuesday with more than 50 students attending! We have so many families that are ready to get started in August at Blossomwood! Thank you to our PTA for helping to organize "K for A Day."
Thank You to our School Lunch Heroes
Let's have another great week!
Sincerely,
Bradley A. Scott, Ed.D.
