Principal's Pen
Greetings CES Families,
Thank you to everyone who volunteered for Field Day and our 5th Grade Celebration. Our students made lasting memories at these events, and we could not make these events possible without our volunteers.
Wednesday is the last day of school for the 2022-23 school year, and what a year it has been! I appreciate each of you welcoming me to Chaffee. I truly love this community, and I am so happy to be a part of it. We will dismiss at 11:30 Wednesday. Buses will run as usual. I hope your family has a fun and restful summer. Please continue to check your email for school updates. We will get dates for back to school events out soon.
We are so close to meeting our school attendance goal for the year. We need every student at school each day to reach our goal. Please make sure your student is at school for the next three school days unless (s)he is excluded per district policy. Our May Attendance Challenge is going strong! The top three classes will get a popsicle and (extra) recess party.
We still have many families who need to complete registration for the 2023-24 school year. Please encourage your friends to register as soon as possible. You can reach out to Ms. Cothren or Ms. Saylor with any questions. If your child’s registration isn’t complete you will be receiving an email this week to remind you to complete registration. Getting registered now will help us to create class lists for next school year. Your child’s name will not be on a class list unless his/her registration is completed.
Soar Eagles,
April Clark

Attendance
It is vital that students are present each day unless sick. Students are allowed a limit of 7 parent sick notes a year. Students are considered truant if they have more than three unexcused absences at any time or if they have more than 18 absences for the year, whether the absences are excused or unexcused.
Please send excuse notes to your child's teacher or email them to Sarah Cothren.
