Greetings CES Families,
This week marks ACAP testing for our 4th and 5th graders. Our 4th graders will test April 17-20 and April 25-26. Our 5th graders will test April 17-20. On testing days please make sure students arrive to school on time, eat a healthy breakfast at home or at school, and have a charged laptop. Please encourage your child to do his/her best. Every test is practice for the next test!
We kicked off our spring fundraiser, the Eagle Run, this past week. Your child received an informational flyer about this event. Every student will run in the Eagle Run and will receive a shirt and drawstring bag. There are other prizes to be earned as students get donations. Our goal is to raise $10,000, and we have already reached almost 30% of this goal. Our students are very excited for the Eagle Run, and we hope that you are too.
Chaffee Elementary is now a Purple Star School, and April is the Month of the Military Child! We ask that students, faculty, and staff wear purple this Friday to show support of our military-connected students. If your child is a military-connected student and needs support at school, please reach out to our counselor, Ms. Burwell.
We still have many families who need to complete registration for the 2023-24 school year. Please encourage your friends to register as soon as possible. You can reach out to Ms. Cothren or Ms. Saylor with any questions. If your child’s registration isn’t complete you will be receiving an email this week to remind you to complete registration. Each Friday we draw student names for prizes to be given to those who have completed registration. Getting registered now will help us to create class lists for next school year.

Attendance
It is vital that students are present each day unless sick. Students are allowed a limit of 7 parent sick notes a year. Students are considered truant if they have more than three unexcused absences at any time or if they have more than 18 absences for the year, whether the absences are excused or unexcused.
Please send excuse notes to your child's teacher or email them to sarah.cothren@hsv-k12.org.
What's Up in P.E This April?
Hello Golden, Eagles! It's Coach B. I'm excited to give you an update on what your children have been learning in P.E. During the month of March, we worked on dribbling a basketball and learning dances for the Decades Dance. In April we will be playing cooperative games and doing post-testing for the fitness test!
