Greetings Chaffee Families,

I can hardly believe it’s already February! This month brings many exciting events.

Our 1st graders kicked off their Eagle Readers challenge on Thursday and will ‘Catch the Reading Wave’ for the next ten weeks. First graders will bring links to school to represent the books and chapters of books they read at home. We love to see the links grow in the hallway!

This month we will also have Valentine’s Day parties. Students are allowed to bring Valentines for their classmates. Classroom teachers will provide more information about this. As a reminder, all food items should be store bought.

Valentine’s Day Party Schedule:

12:30-1:15: Grades PreK, 1st, 5th

1:15-2:00: Grades Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

February is Black History Month. Ms. Green and the Black History Month Committee have planned exciting educational activities related to Black History Month, including daily trivia with prizes. Our Black History Month program will be held later this month, with HCS Superintendent, Dr. Sutton, as our guest speaker.

Please save the date for our next spirit night, which will be on Thursday, February 29, at Flow Trampoline Park. This Spirit Night will be in conjunction with our Title I Parent Focus Night, Leap Into Learning. See the flyer below for more details.

What's Up in P.E. this January

Hello Golden Eagles! It's Coach B. Happy New Year ! I hope you all had a great holiday break. This month our 2nd-5th graders will be learning skills to play floor hockey. Our K-1st graders will be learning locomotor movements (skipping, galloping, hopping, leaping, etc.). I am looking forward to a fun second semester.

Leap Ahead Learning & Spirit Night

Flow Trampoline Park, Room 1 (2021 Drake AVE SW, Huntsville)
Thursday, February 29th
5:30-6:30p

Join us during Spirit Night at FLOW to learn easy ways to support student's learning and math skills. Parents can attend the Parent Focus Meeting for free. If you would like to support our Spirit Night Fundraiser, your student may jump during our meeting. Regular jump prices apply. Socks available for $3.50. Not a drop off event. Waivers must be signed at FLOW's Website.
