Chaffee Elementary School

Greetings Chaffee Families,

This week we will begin i-Ready testing, which will provide us with helpful information on where our students are in their reading and math skill acquisition so that we can plan effective lessons to meet our students’ needs. Did you know that our teachers plan weekly small group instruction in math and reading tailored to each students’ needs? This is another reason why being present at school is so important. We don’t want students to miss their unique learning opportunities.

Our PTA Meeting with Fall Open House will be Tuesday, August 27, 5:30-7:30. We hope to see your family there. Additional parking is available at Community Fellowship Church. Please do not park illegally in our Chaffee neighborhood. I encourage everyone to join our PTA! We are very fortunate to have such a hardworking and supportive PTA. Becoming a member is a wonderful way to support the school and your child, so we hope you will join if you have not done so already.

Have you read with your child this weekend? Open a book and read together each day to encourage a love of reading in your child. It’s time well spent. 😊

Students learn best when they are at school. If your child has to be absent due to sickness, don’t forget to send/email a parent or doctor excuse note within two days of your child’s absence.

Huntsville City Schools requests that all parents take this survey by August 30.
