Chaffee Elementary School Logo

Greetings Chaffee Families,

I hope your family had a terrific spring break! We have nine weeks left in this school year, and every day counts for our students’ academic success. When you stress the importance of school, your child will understand the importance of school. We love working with your family, and we are here for anything you may need.

Our PTA Meeting and Decades Bash is this Friday! At the PTA Meeting, the Nominating Committee for next year’s PTA Board will be introduced and voted on. The Decades Bash will follow the PTA Meeting and is always so much fun! We will once again have a contest for the best decade attire. See the flyer below for more details. We need volunteers to make this event possible, so please sign up here.

Chaffee & the Chocolate Factory was originally scheduled to end on March 3, but we have extended the closing date to Tuesday, March 18. All money is due Tuesday! Thank you for helping support our school!

K for a Day is Friday, April 25. Please tell your friends who have rising kindergarten students so that they can register to attend this fun and informative event. The flyer is below.

As you know all elementary schools will have a weapons detection system, called Opengate, upon the return from Spring Break. I sent an email on Friday with the details about how Opengate will operate at Chaffee. Please review that email for changes to our morning routine. Our afternoon dismissal will remain unchanged. I appreciate your support and patience as we operate this new security initiative.

Our next PBIS Celebration is Friday, April 4. We have made changes to requirements for attending our remaining PBIS Celebrations this school year. Due to the high number of students who have had behavior infractions for Inappropriate Physical Contact and Aggression, most of which have fallen under pushing, hitting, and horseplay, we feel it is best to target this behavior so that it will decrease at our school. Students must still earn the required number of tickets to attend the monthly PBIS Celebration (as determined by each grade level). If a student has an Office Disciplinary Referral (a Level 2 or higher behavior infraction as outlined in the HCS Student Code of Contact), for the month, (s)he will not attend that month’s PBIS Celebration. Further, if a student has more than two Level 1 negative behavior infractions documented in BLOOM, our record-keeping behavior management system, (s)he will not attend that month’s PBIS Celebration. I will continue to remind students of these requirements. Please talk to your child(ren) about appropriate school behavior, especially when it comes to keeping hands, feet, and objects to themselves. Our students learn more when they are allowed to focus on learning instead of horseplay. Thank you for your support.

Registration for the 2025-26 school year is now open. A snapcode was sent to the primary email address on file. Please complete registration as soon as possible so that we can plan for next year. The district will determine our number of teachers for next year based on registration. We would love to earn additional teachers so that our class sizes decrease. Please encourage your friends to register as soon as possible. You can reach out to Ms. Cothren or Ms. Carter with any questions.

Spring ACAP Testing is right around the corner--see the testing schedule below. Please make sure students arrive to school on time, eat a healthy breakfast at home or at school, and have a charged laptop. Please encourage your child to do his/her best. Every test is practice for the next test!

Soar Eagles,

April Clark
