Greetings Chaffee Families,

This week we will begin DIBELS testing for grades K-3. This test only takes about 10 minutes per student and is an excellent indicator of early literacy skills. We will also begin our final i-Ready Reading and Math tests of the school year. Each of these tests will take about an hour. We hope to see a lot of growth from the beginning of the year test. Student results will help our teachers to know where to start with individualized instruction next year. Encourage your child(ren) to do their best.

Please join us Tuesday evening for our Spring PTA Meeting at 5:30pm, followed by Family Literacy Night at 6:00-7:30pm. The Book Fair will be open from 6:15-7:15pm. Rocket City Shaved Ice will be on site. Parking is NOT available at Community Fellowship Church. Instead, you should park at the school and on the road in front of the school, obeying all traffic laws. It’s going to be a fun night!

Do you want to help with our Spring Book Fair? Volunteer!

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5-9, and we are collecting gift cards so that each faculty and staff member receives one. I hope you will join in and help our teachers feel loved all week!

Please sign up to donate a gift card or cash to be used toward a gift card. Thank you for your support!

Are you interested in serving on the PTA Board next year? We have the following positions open: President, Vice President of Programs, Secretary, and Treasurer. Please email Amber Isenhower at president@chaffeepta.com if you’re interested. We need you!

Our monthly attendance challenge is underway! Students who have 100% attendance for the month of April will enjoy a popcorn and movie party. Students will also have their name put in a drawing each day they’re at school this month, and we will draw names to win prizes at the end of the month—the more a student comes to school, the higher probability that their name will be drawn. As a reminder, students should be at school unless they are excluded for illness. Please send an excuse note/email or call the front office following each absence so that the absence can be coded as excused when possible. Thank you for your continued help with this!

Our Awards Day Celebrations will be held in May. Please see the graphic below for grade level specific times. Students can earn the following awards: All As, All As & Bs, Excellent Attendance, i-Ready Reading/Math Growth, and Governors’ Physical Fitness. There will be other awards given specific to each grade level. We hope that you can join us to celebrate our students.

We still have families who need to complete registration for the 2025-26 school year. Please encourage your friends to register as soon as possible. You can reach out to Ms. Cothren or Ms. Carter with any questions. Please complete registration as soon as possible so that we can better plan for next year.

Soar Eagles,

April Clark
