Columbia's Teacher of the Year

Mrs. Sawyer is a Spanish teacher at Columbia High School. Originally from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, she has always had a passion for language and teaching, which led her to pursue a degree in Spanish Secondary Education at Brigham Young University Idaho.

She has been happily married for almost a decade and love spending time with her small family and friends. Some of her biggest passions includes traveling and experiencing new cultures and exploring different parts of the world. She has been fortunate to visit many places and have some unforgettable experiences.

In her free time, she likes to dance, work out, and go for runs to stay healthy and active.

As an ESL teacher, she loves helping students of all backgrounds--especially students who are new to the United States--learn and improve their English skills. She loves seeing her students make progress and feel more confident in their abilities.

Overall, she is dedicated to education and her students, and strives to bring energy and enthusiasm to every lesson.

Congratulations, Mrs. Sawyer!
