Bruce Jones with Fred Acklin posing in library in front of Columbia sign

Bruce Jones, a native of Courtland who played in the National Football League (NFL) and earned his B.S. degree in Social Work from UNA in 1987 spoke to the 11th grade boys and girls.

He talked to the students about the difficult challenges he faced in his youth while growing up in poverty-stricken rural South Courtland. Despite early hardships, Jones's resilience, determination, and passion for sports propelled him to graduate both from high school and college.

Mr. Jones relatability to the students comes from the fact that he, too faced some of the same struggles and pitfalls that some of our students are facing and utilized his experiences to help motivate and inspire our students to follow their dreams and passions to become the best they can be!
