Band Director Mr. Miller standing in front of band with red jacket on conducting performance

The Columbia High School Band performing at the District 1 Alabama Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessment. This piece is Carnegie Anthem by William Owens.

This piece pays tribute to the venerable Carnegie Hall, one of the world's most prestigious performance venues, as well as to vibrant New York City. The opening statement is a bold, brilliant fanfare characteristic of the great hall's splendor. The middle section is calm, with engaging melodies, yet rhythmically driven, symbolizing the nonstop activity of a bustling metropolis. After returning to the opening theme, the music concludes with a resplendent finish.

We are so proud of the Columbia High School Band for earning straight superior ratings today (which includes perfect scores from all 3 adjudicators on our stage performance) at the District 1 Alabama Bandmasters Association Music Performance Assessment!!
