Dear Columbia High School Family and Community,
Welcome back to a new and exciting school year! As we embark on this journey together, we are
filled with enthusiasm and optimism for what lies ahead. Our dedicated teachers and staff have
been working tirelessly to prepare for a successful year, and we are thrilled to welcome our
students back into the classrooms.
As we begin this new academic year, I would like to remind everyone of some important policies
that are in place to ensure a safe, productive, and respectful learning environment.
Cell Phone Policy
To minimize distractions and enhance learning, students are expected to keep
their cell phones turned off and stored in their backpacks during school hours. Phones may only
be used before and after school. We believe this policy will help our students stay focused and
engaged in their studies.
Dress Code
Our dress code aims to promote a respectful and inclusive atmosphere. Students are
expected to dress in a manner that is appropriate for the school setting. This means clothing
should not be disruptive, offensive, or unsafe. Please refer to the student Code of Conduct for
detailed guidelines on acceptable attire.
Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial for academic success. We encourage all students to
attend school every day unless they are ill or have a valid excuse. Parents and guardians, your
support in ensuring your child arrives on time and ready to learn is invaluable. Remember,
consistent attendance helps build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
As we focus on these essential policies, let us also remember the words of Booker T.
Washington: “Character, not circumstances, makes the man.” Our commitment to developing
good character is just as important as our commitment to academic excellence. By fostering
integrity, responsibility, and respect, we help our students become not only successful scholars
but also exemplary citizens.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. Together, we can make this school year a
memorable and successful one for all our students.
