Hello Challenger Elementary Family,

I hope you had a great weekend! We had an awesomely amazing first week of school!

We are so excited to welcome our scholars into the building daily! Please note that the building opens at 7:30 a.m. We do ask for car riders to be dropped off using lanes 1 & 3 only. Please refrain from dropping students off in the parking lot. K-5th grade students must be escorted to the crosswalk. Pre-K students are to be escorted to the front entrance of the building and signed in daily from 7:40-7:50. All K-5th-grade students that arrive after 8 a.m. must be signed in by a parent/guardian in the front office.

Please ensure your child's teacher knows how your child(ren) goes home. This will ensure a quick and safe dismissal. Teachers have provided all car riders with a colored name tag for dismissal. Please post these tags on the passenger side of your vehicle's dashboard/visor/window.

Many great and exciting things are planned for our students this school year. Closing the achievement gap and keeping everyone safe are the main goals. All students in K-3 will have a 2-hour uninterrupted reading block this year. Most will occur first thing in the morning or before lunch. It is imperative that you have your child(ren) at school by 8 a.m. so they can attend/engage in this vital instruction. Please assist us with making sure students are at school and on time daily! Students are allowed only seven parent excuses per school year. Please submit your excuses to the front office or email them to Kendra Humphrey and Danna Freeman. Please include your child's classroom teacher as well.

One of my daily tasks is to keep everyone in the building safe, healthy, and learning daily. We have many safety measures in place at CES. All doors are closed and locked throughout the day. Entries will not be propped open, and all visitors must enter through the front entrance. You must have your driver's license when entering the building and checking out your child(ren). We will not allow anyone to check out students if they are not on the pickup list. There are no checkouts after 2:15.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Arrival: 7:30-8:00am

  • Please have student(s) exit from the passenger side of your vehicle
  • Students must be escorted when using the crosswalk
  • Pre-K students must be signed in and out daily
  • Pre-K student drop off begins at 7:40 – 7:50 – Parents must park and walk children to the front door. Please utilize the main cross walk.

Dismissal: 2:30pm

  • Every student has received a car rider number.
  • Place names/numbers so they are visible.
  • Please be patient and understanding daily!
  • Pre-K - 2:20-2:30pm- All students remaining after 2:30pm will be taken to the front office and parents must park and check students out in the front office.

Reminders

  • No Student Check-outs after 2:15pm.
  • School starts at 8am daily. Most classes start reading instruction at 8am so it is imperative that your child is at school on time each day.
  • Please have your child bring a water bottle, laptop, and charger daily.
  • Please consider joining or donating memberships today!
