Happy New Year and Welcome Back Eagle Families!

We are excited to be back and continue the great momentum of teaching and learning from our first semester! As we begin this new semester, please continue to partner with us to ensure your scholar is ready for school each day by arriving on time and coming prepared to learn.

Report Cards and mid-year iReady testing results were sent home with scholars on Friday, January 5. Please review all data. This information is vital to us as we strive to meet individual student needs in our instruction.

I am excited to share with you that January is School Board Recognition Month and Gifted Education Month! At this moment, I would like to recognize the efforts of our amazing District 3 Huntsville City School Board Member, Ms. Andrea Alvarez, and our exceptional Gifted (GATE) Teachers, Mrs. Cottingham and Mrs. Wortendyke! These individuals work tirelessly for the betterment of our scholars. Please join us in celebrating them by sending sweet notes and/or treats from your scholar(s) to show them appreciation.

For the next two weeks, students in 3rd to 5th grade will be taking a practice ACAP test. This test will help scholars become more familiar with the test format and tools. Also, the test results will be used by teachers to adjust their teaching methods according to individual student needs. It's important to note that this is a "practice" test will NOT be counted towards grades.

As we navigate through the winter season, it’s essential to stay informed about potential weather impacts on the school day. We have updated protocols in place to enhance communication between the district and our families, ensuring you have ample notice to plan accordingly.

For accurate and timely information, please check our district website, our Facebook and Instagram pages, and local media stations. Additionally, notifications will be sent via email, phone calls, and text messages. Ensure your information is current and up-to-date on PowerSchool to receive weather notifications. Do not hesitate to contact the school if you need PowerSchool assistance. Your safety and well-being are our top priorities, and we appreciate your cooperation during inclement weather situations.

We have many students reaching a critical number of absences. Please be sure your scholar(s) are at school daily. If your child is absent, please send excuses to the front office.

And as always, we cannot express our appreciation to our dedicated Challenger community. It is truly a joy working alongside you, helping these children grow and become. Thank you!

Here's to a great week of learning and growing at CES!!
