Have you heard your child say, "AIM High” or “PBIS celebration"? We would like to fill you in on what this means! Huntsville City Schools as a district encourages implementation of the PBIS framework to fidelity. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. At Challenger Elementary, we want our students to AIM High!
This means:
Act Responsibly
Interact Respectfully
Manage Time
Students earn positive Dojo points for displaying AIM High behaviors. They can also earn negative Dojo points for displaying negative behaviors. This can be in the classroom, hallway, bathroom, cafeteria, playground, car dismissal, etc. Students are explicitly taught our PBIS expectations and work hard to earn their positive Dojo points!
Each quarter, we have a PBIS celebration; students who have demonstrated positive behavior on the Dojo app will be invited to attend the PBIS celebration. Kindergarten through 2nd grade students must have at least 80% positive behavior, while 3rd through 5th grade students must have at least 85%.
We love for our students to have a voice and a choice in planning and attending our PBIS celebrations! We are looking forward to dance parties, art parties, game days, free choice, quiet reading, ice cream, etc.
Please refer to the PBIS matrix with all behavior expectations. Take the time to look at this with your child and discuss how they can AIM High at Challenger Elementary!
