Farley Elementary School

We read Jalapeño Bagels for our curriculum storytime.  The story celebrates foods from different cultures.  We extended this activity with our first cooking lesson!  We made our own butter using heavy whipping cream and a little bit of salt. Each child got to shake up the butter mixture before we set it in the refrigerator to harden. We then got to toast our bagels.  Each child spread the butter onto their bagel and ate it.  We discussed the physical changes that happened from the liquid to the solid and the changes to the colors as the bagel toasted.
