At Farley, we love to learn together across grade levels.  One way we do this is through collaboration among teachers.  Mrs. Harbour and Ms. Dull in Pre-K collaborated with Mrs. Perry in first grade to do a shared patterns lesson.  While the children look like they are just playing with candy, they are actually mastering and challenging themselves to create more difficult patterns.  Look for the various AB, ABB, AAB, ABC, and AABB patterns being done independently in both early childhood classrooms.  Using real-world, physical objects helps students understand abstract mathematical concepts in a more natural way.
