Farley hosted the ARI Coaching Community #2 this week. We were able to welcome ARI Regional Literacy Specialists, ARI Local Reading Specialists, and HCS District Curriculum Specialists to collaborate. During Coaching Community, they were able to observe Farley's Reading Specialist, Mrs. Ray, in action, collaborating with one of Farley's third-grade teachers, Mrs. McNeil, during a coaching cycle. The team observed a tier 1 small group reading lesson where the coach and teacher co-taught and then debriefed using data to plan the next steps.
The students were engaged in multisensory foundational skills building, utilizing LETRS structured phonics lessons as their small group work mat. The students decoded and encoded words and sentences and practiced fluency with repeated reads. Other students were at stations connecting learning to practice by sorting sounds and words, writing words, and working on daily fluency folders. It is great to see the hard work our teachers put into instructing our students!
