Farley Elementary School Librarian, Mrs. Rice, reading to a Pre-K class at Farley for Jumpstart Read for the Record.

Farley Pre-k participated in Jumpstart Read for the Record today. Thank you to our Farley Elementary School librarian, Mrs. Rice, for being our guest reader!

From the Jump Start website:

"Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading experience, celebrating early literacy and supporting children’s early language and social-emotional development. The annual initiative raises awareness of the critical importance of early literacy and access to inclusive, high-quality books through shared reading. Over the course of 19 years, more than 28 million people have participated in Read for the Record, and Jumpstart for Young Children has distributed millions of high-quality books to children through the program.

This year, Jumpstart’s 19th Annual Read for the Record Day will be held on October 24, 2024. Millions of people will come together that day to read Piper Chen Sings co-authored by award-winning actress and singer Phillipa Soo and Maris Pasquale Doran and illustrated by Qin Leng. Thousands of schools, libraries, and community organizations will celebrate early literacy by reading this empowering story of self-expression, overcoming self-doubt, and the ways family relationships can support us.

We hope the themes of building confidence and embracing family history to navigate challenges in Piper Chen Sings will inspire, connect, and empower young children and adults all year long."
