Goldsmith-Schiffman Elementary

Mr. Crabtree's class learned about the Rock Cycle in an interesting, and tasty, way. Learning about geologic processes can be rather difficult to fully comprehend.With the use of Starburst candies, the class learned about the various stages of the Rock Cycle. Allowing Starbursts to represent rocks, the class was better  able to see how rocks change from one form to another. Instead of using outside forces of pressure and heat, the class substituted their own hands and a microwave, (operated by Mr. Crabtree of course). Each h step in the formation of different rocks was represented, and everyone was able to take home a souvenir of their “molten rock”.
