Greetings Bulls.

One of the concerning behaviors we begin to see in middle school is the use of vapes.  As a school we discuss and highlight the use and effects of vaping through announcements, posters, counselor curriculum, and our 8th vaping lab, but we still see vaping begin as young as 6th grade.

Vapes are easy to buy/obtain in our community. Students usually do not keep a vape for themselves, rather they pass it among peers which enhances risk factors. Vapes are highly addictive, easy to hide and easy to share.

Please consider discussing the use of vapes and their effects with your children at home periodically. Intentional discussion of strategies children can use to avoid or leave uncomfortable situations and peer pressure will be beneficial. Some of the strategies you can reinforce are saying no, practicing different ways to walk away, seeking out positive peers, and encouraging talking to a trusted adult.

Thank you for your continued partnership with us.

Go Bulls!
