Parent Advisory Meeting
Feb 23rd at 9:00 AM in the Media Center
Come to discuss ways to make learning continue at home and to make our school environment more accessible to both parents and students. This month we want to discuss ways to help parents connect with the school more easily, both with faculty and online resources. Do you have your parent account set up for PowerSchools? We know it is hard to learn when students have a lack of sleep and/or lack of food. We have a great resource here for food and hygiene supplies. PTA has set up a program for all students called the Big Red Grocery Store.
HHS Feeder DAC Meeting
Thursday, March 9, at 6 PM at Huntsville High School.
The Desegregation Advisory Committee will be meeting for the Huntsville High School feeder schools. The public is invited to attend. You can read last year's findings on Huntsville City School's website.
Parents and PowerSchool
Having the PowerSchool app at your fingertips is a great way to stay on top of your student's progress. This app allows you to see not only grades but tardies and class assignments as well. You can also use this tool to contact your teachers, request conferences, and stay up to date with your student. Most of the time if a parent or guardian is aware the student is missing assignments, they can do something from home, like curtailing extracurricular activities, checking backpacks, looking at Schoology on students' computers daily, and asking if they need help. There is free tutoring after school if you sign up. If we can catch these students before they begin to fail, they have a much higher chance of moving on. Please do not let a lack of information be the reason your child gets behind. See your child's teachers or School Counselor for more information.
