MGMS Girls' Cyber Team Place 2nd in State

On December 9th, Mountain Gap's all-girl Cyber Patriot Team placed second in the state in the State Round of the 15 Annual Cyber Patriot National Cyber Defense Competition. This is the first time a MGMS team has placed in the top 3 in the state. This is quite an accomplishment as they competed against the other 39 teams in Alabama. On January 20th, they also placed 5th in the Regional Semi-Final Round, consisting of all middle school teams in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

The MGMS team consisted of 8th grade team members Sabrina Baidas, Sophia Lin, Laura Muntele and Ka'ena Santiago.

Cyber Patriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air & Space Forces Association to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future. At the core of the program is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, the nation's largest cyber defense competition that puts high school and middle school students in charge of securing virtual networks.

We could not be more proud of our Mountain Gap Cyber Patriots!
