Congratulations to Amber Heimbeck, MGMS Teacher of the Year 2023-2024. This is Mrs. Heimbeck’s third year at MGMS. She strives to build a strong science department and give all students access to hands-on science instruction. Mrs. Heimbeck has organized our Mad Scientist Day on Halloween, which was a day full of science experiments and demonstrations. She also has organized our school STEAM fair with 25+ community partners that takes place each April. She loves sciences and helps her students to love it too! We are proud of her and grateful for her service to our students at The Gap.
Congratulations to Corey Battles, the MGMS Staff Member of the Year. Corey Battles also won the Support Staff Member of the year for all HCS middle schools! Corey Battles or Coach Battles, as we all know him, has been a Huntsville City School’s employee for 18 years. He is a product of Huntsville City School and is proud to be able to work for the District he grew up in. He has worked all over the District, spending time at Johnson High School, Whitesburg Middle School, Grissom High School, Columbia High School, and now Mountain Gap Middle/Elem School. From North Huntsville to South Huntsville, he is able to be dropped in any situation and handle it professionally and effortlessly. He consistently goes above and beyond to care for the students and staff. He not only wants to keep them safe at school, but also seeks to build students up and help make them better people for the life that lies ahead of them.
