At Mountain Gap Middle School we learn by doing! Whether you are a 6th, 7th or 8th grader, you will find lots of learning opportunities with hands on activities. For example, Dr. Davis’ 8th grade math class made puzzles by using their knowledge of the Pythagorean Theorem. In Mrs. Campbell’s Medical Detective’s class students dissected a sheep brain to learn about brain anatomy.

In Ms. McBride’s 6th grade Earth Science class students used a water table to show how run off effects ground water. In Mrs. Heimbeck’s 8th grade Physical Science class students created an electromagnet to observe relationships between electricity and magnetism. Mrs. Heimbeck said, “I believe hands on activities are very important to reinforce the material we learn. We are in the lab almost every other week, if not every week in my science class. I love to see the ‘ah ha’ moment on their faces when it clicks.”
