During Read Across America Week, students were treated to a special experience as volunteers from across the community joined them to celebrate the joy of reading. Parents, district leaders, retired educators, community leaders, and even members of the Alabama A&M football team took time to share stories with students, making the event both engaging and inspiring. Among the distinguished guests was Mrs. Martin, a former reading coach, who captivated students with her animated storytelling and passion for literacy. Volunteers brought books to life through expressive reading, sparking students' imaginations and reinforcing the importance of strong reading habits.
The presence of a diverse group of readers showed students that reading is valued across all professions and walks of life. The Alabama A&M football players, in particular, made a lasting impression, demonstrating that athletes are not only strong on the field but also strong in academics and literacy. With such an outpouring of participation, Read Across America Week was more than just a celebration—it was a reminder that reading connects us all.
