Ms. Bledsoe’s 4th-grade class had the unique opportunity to put their skills to the test during their Star Pupils' Sip and Snack event! Students were tasked with interviewing for positions at the Snack Shack, where they could apply for roles such as team member, manager, and more. Members of the administration team served as interviewers, offering a real-world experience that was both educational and exciting for the students. The next day, students received personalized envelopes from Ms. Bledsoe containing their new positions and job responsibilities. The following day, they got to work running a full coffee shop! Parents and teachers were invited to purchase coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate, bottled water, snacks, and danishes, while the students took orders, ran the cash register, and filled customer orders.
The event was nothing short of amazing! It was a perfect blend of reading, math, and real-world experience, all while encouraging collaboration among the students. This hands-on experience gave them a chance to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to a real-world setting—an experience that was both fun and educational. A big thank you to OMI ALSDE, Jessica Sweatt-Johnson, and Elisabeth Jones Johnson for their support in making this experience possible!
