The Morris Middle School Eagles boys' soccer team has completed a remarkable season, finishing the campaign undefeated and winning the Huntsville City Schools Championship. The Eagles capped off their season with a resounding 9-0 victory over Williams on March 24th.
Over the course of the season, the Eagles were a dominant force, outscoring their opponents by a staggering 43 to 4. Their final three games were particularly impressive, as they won all three matches while not conceding a single goal. The Eagles beat Challenger 2-0 on March 7th, followed by a 3-0 win over Whitesburg on March 9th, before their final game against Williams. A combination of players scored in the final trio of games, including Gerson Mejia, Alejandro Rodriguez, Jeb Moore, Jerson Bautista, and Alex Medina.
The Eagle’s clean sheet is a credit to Erik “Memo” Diaz, who only gave up 4 goals all season, and no more than 2 in a single game. He recorded 4 games with no goals allowed and finished the season averaging less than 1 goal allowed per game.
The Eagle’s strong defense is due to the talent of Brandon Martinez, Jonathan Vicente, and Antonio Matias, who anchored the back line the entire season. A multitude of players provided strong defensive support when called upon, particularly Edwin Ibarra and Michael Estrada.
The Eagles inaugural season will be one to remember. Congratulations to the Morris Middle School Eagles boys' soccer team on a phenomenal season and a well-deserved championship title!
