After reading “The Good Samaritan” by Rene Saldana, the sixth grade chose sides to the question, “Did Rey do the right thing in helping Mr. Sanchez?” They developed their positions and made four claims to support the position. Next, they debated in the classroom using the rules of formal debate. Finally, they wrote essays to defend their position.
