Montview Elementary recently celebrated Read Across America Week from February 28 to March 7, bringing excitement and a love for reading to students through themed dress-up days, guest readers, and a special Book Blast event.
Each day of the week featured a different dress-up theme, adding an element of fun and creativity to the celebration. Students participated in Pajama Day, Hats and Socks Day, Color Day, Wacky Day, Necktie and Neon Day, and Sports Day, showing off their school spirit while embracing the joy of reading.
A highlight of the week was the presence of guest readers who visited classrooms to share their favorite books with students. Their enthusiasm and storytelling brought stories to life, making reading an engaging and enjoyable experience.
Montview also hosted a Book Blast event, an initiative designed to help students build their own home libraries. Each student had the opportunity to send out ten invitations to family and friends, encouraging donations to fund their personal collection of books. The event was a resounding success, ensuring that every student received a free book to take home and cherish.
Read Across America Week at Montview was a fun and memorable celebration, reinforcing the importance of literacy and fostering a lifelong love of reading in students.
