PreK students celebrating the 100th day of school.

Providence Elementary PreK celebrated its 100th day of school today. Instead of doing individual collections of 100 things, the 5 PreK classrooms worked together to collect 100 cans of food to donate to the Food Bank of North Alabama. Providence Elementary PreK collected over 100 cans to donate.

Amanda Carter and Kelly Nicholas from the Food Bank of North Alabama spoke to the children about the importance of good food to eat and many children didn't have enough to eat. They explained how the Food Bank of North Alabama helped those children and their families have food and that the children's cans will help with that.

Amanda Carter said " I think these kids are more compassionate, intelligent, and aware that we could ever give them credit for. Explaining food insecurity at young ages helps remove stigmas that surround hunger and our neighbors who face it every day. These kids are our future and I think we are in good hands based off what I've seen with these groups."
