Our Ridgecrest Rockets learned about Veterans and Veterans Day in their library classes this year. Our librarian, Mrs. Gatzke, is the wife of a veteran who served 22 years in the U.S. Army. She was very excited to explain to students how and why we celebrate Veterans Day. We collected photos of veterans affiliated with Ridgecrest - some are parents or family members of students and some were relatives of staff members. During library classes, grades Kindergarten- 3rd grade created a poster for a veteran and 4th-5th graders made cards! Mrs. Gatzke took all of the treasures to our local veterans home, Floyd E. "Tut" Fann State Veterans Home. They were thrilled with the presents from our students!
