Note from the Principal, September 15

Whitesburg Parents and Guardians,

Happy Friday!

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. I am reaching out to inform you about a crucial meeting regarding the Alabama Literacy Act (ALA), which has significant implications for our students in Pre-Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

The ALA has put forth a pivotal requirement: starting this academic year, 3rd-grade students must demonstrate proficiency on the ACAP Summative Reading Subtest to be promoted to the 4th grade. We believe it's vital for all parents to be fully informed about this change to ensure that there are no surprises at the end of the year.

To provide comprehensive information and address any questions or concerns you may have regarding this matter, we have organized an important meeting.

The details are as follows:

Date: September 28, 2023

Time: 5:00

Location: WBES Lion's Den

During this meeting, we will discuss the specifics of the Alabama Literacy Act, its implications for your child, and the proactive steps we are taking to support our students in meeting this requirement. We believe that a collaborative approach between our educators and parents is essential to guide our students toward success.

Your attendance at this meeting is highly encouraged, as your involvement and understanding of this policy will greatly benefit your child's educational journey. Together, we can ensure that our students achieve the required proficiency and are well-prepared for the academic challenges ahead.

If you have any immediate questions or concerns before the meeting, please feel free to reach out to us. We look forward to your active participation and fruitful discussions at the upcoming meeting.

Thank you for your continued support.

Have a great weekend!

I am blessed to serve with best Whitesburg Elementary Family.

Thanks,

Mrs. Jones
