Let’s help students build a habit of good attendance early & often #BePresentBePowerful
Absences Add Up!
Chronic absenteeism is a primary cause of low academic achievement.
Missing 10% of school for ANY reason, excused or unexcused, is proven to negatively impact future graduation rates.
Elementary & Middle Schools: 15% of the school report card is derived from the chronic absenteeism rate
High Schools: 10% of the school report card is derived from the chronic absenteeism rate
It's Never Too Late to Improve Attendance
Research shows that when students are chronically absent (18 or more days), they are less likely to read proficiently by 3rd grade.
What Families Can Do
Set a regular bedtime and morning routine
Prepare for school the night before
Develop back up plans for getting to and from school
Keep track of your student's attendance
Talk to your student about the importance of attending school
Talk to your student's teacher if you notice sudden changes in behavior
Download the Powerschool App
The parent portal gives parents and students access to real-time information, including attendance, grades, assignment descriptions, and more.
The app is available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store!
