Weatherly students were transported back in time and participated in a program celebrating Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. The halls of the school were transformed into forests and the lights were turned into stars. The students followed the stars on their way to freedom. The program began with an introduction to the Underground Railroad. The upper grades then traveled by ‘starlight’ to different locations and safe houses. The lower grades learned more about Harriet Tubman through song and video before walking the Underground Railroad path to freedom.
Ms. Jackson, one of the school’s collaborative teachers, always goes the extra mile! She has put together many Black History Programs and this one was the best one yet!
