On February 28th, Weatherly Heights Elementary was abuzz with excitement as the Zoodles Animal Education Program brought a wild and wonderful collection of animals to our school! Students had the unique opportunity to learn about and interact with animals not often seen up close.
The program featured an impressive lineup of creatures, including a sleek ball python, two gentle tortoises, and a colorful cockatoo named Cheyanne. Adding to the delight, two adorable baby kangaroos made their debut—Luanne and Stanley—captivating the hearts of students and staff with their playful hops and curious nature.
Animal education enriches the school experience in many ways. By connecting with live animals, students learn about biology, ecosystems, and the importance of caring for all creatures. This hands-on experience sparks curiosity and fosters empathy, as children observe behaviors, discuss animal habitats, and appreciate the role animals play in our world. Activities like this not only support science and literacy learning but also encourage students to ask questions and explore topics such as conservation and wildlife protection.
An exciting part of the day was the animal encounter sessions. Students had the chance to choose an in-person interaction and capture a photo with their favorite animal. Whether it was holding the ball python, meeting the gentle tortoises, or cuddling with one of the baby kangaroos, these encounters left lasting memories and helped spark a lifelong interest in wildlife. By engaging directly with these creatures, students learned practical lessons in observation, care, and responsibility.
The visit from the Zoodles Animal Education Program was more than just a fun field trip. It was an educational experience that brought the natural world into the classroom, allowing students to see firsthand the beauty and diversity of animal life. Weatherly Heights Elementary is proud to offer such enriching experiences that foster both academic growth and personal development.
We look forward to more opportunities like these that help our young learners grow into curious, compassionate, and knowledgeable individuals!
